WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Results) -- The Indiana Wesleyan University track and field teams participated in the Wake Forest Open this weekend in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Most competing teams were NCAA Division I programs. Indiana Wesleyan and two other schools represented the NAIA at the large meet.
John Bowman highlighted the weekend for the Wildcats with a first place finish in the Discus Throw. His winning toss was 177 feet 11 inches, over 12 feet beyond the throw of the second place finisher.
Seven other Wildcats placed in the top-10 in individual events.
Bryan Hazel gained a second place finish in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase. Hazel crossed the line in nine minutes 21.37 seconds. He was just .16 seconds behind the winner.
A pair of women runners captured fourth place finishes for Indiana Wesleyan. Ann Marie Lanzetta ran a 38:55.35 in the 10,000-Meter Run and Laura Dziagwa finished the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase in 11:27.70.
Josh Foss placed fifth in the 1,500-Meter Run with a time of 3:53.82. Beka Bentle ran an 18:08.16 in the 5,000-Meter Run and Thomas Collet earned a mark of 22-1.75 feet in the Long Jump as each finished in seventh.
Doug Alles completed a 10th place finish in the 10,000-Meter Run in a time of 32:53.05.
