MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer has added Jamie Speidel to the 2009 recruiting class.
Speidel is a goalkeeper from East Columbus High School and was credited with 41 wins and 28 shutouts during her high school career. Starting all four years, she led East Columbus to a 41-19-7 record.
Her senior season was shortened by an ACL injury, but her early play garnered her All-State Third Team honors. Her other All-State awards include 2007 Honorable Mention and Academic All-State in 2007 and 2008. She was team captain in 2007 and 2008 and team MVP in 2007.
Speidel also played club soccer with the Carmel Fire and was a member of the team that won the Indiana State Cup in 2006.
"Jamie will be joining a team that advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round last season," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "She is working very hard in rehabilitation and is on track to be ready to play in the fall. Jamie is a very physical keeper and will be in the mix of our four keepers for playing time. I am very impressed with her attitude and work ethic. With Jamie on board, I feel we have the best group of goalkeepers in the eight years I have coached the Wildcats."
