GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Women's Results, Men's Results)-- The Indiana Wesleyan University outdoor track and field teams competed very well at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Greencastle, Indiana.
The women's team placed second out of 10 teams while the men were third of 11.
In the women's competition, Illinois Wesleyan University ran away with the meet title with 160 points. Indiana Wesleyan ended the day with 117 points.
The Wildcat women captured three event victories on the day.
The 4 x 400-Meter Relay team set a meet record with a time of four minutes 1.76 seconds. Also setting a meet record was junior Laura Dziagwa in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase. Dziagwa crossed the finish line in 11:21.57.
Sophomore Katelin Morgan raced to victory in the 400-Meter Hurdles. Morgan finished in a time of 1:05.91.
On the men's side, Vincennes (Ind.) University out-distanced the rest of the field with 161 points. Taylor (Ind.) University was second with 112 points and Indiana Wesleyan ended in third place with 109.5 points.
Four Wildcats won five events for the men's team.
Senior John Bowman led the way with a pair of wins in throwing events. Bowman collected the win in the Discus with a mark of 56.07-meters/183-11 feet and doubled up with a win in the Hammer Throw at 54.5-meters/178-10 feet.
Sophomore James Schortgen earned a third Wildcat win in field events as he won the Javelin with a distance of 54.54-meters/178-11 feet.
In running events, Indiana Wesleyan won two distance events.
Senior Josh Foss won the 800-Meter Run in 1:55.56 and senior Bryan Hazel finished the 5,000-Meter Run in 15:20.05.
Indiana Wesleyan will return to the track next weekend as the Wildcats host the Little State Championships on Saturday, April 11.
