MARION, Ind. (Results) -- Both Indiana Wesleyan University track and field teams are in third place as Friday came to a close at the NCCAA National Championships being held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan.

Malone (Ohio) College leads the women's competition with 81 points and Bethel (Ind.) College is currently second with 61.25 points. Indiana Wesleyan has 47.25 points.

On the men's side, Bethel holds a slim lead over Malone and Indiana Wesleyan. Bethel earned 51 points while Malone tallied 49 points and Indiana Wesleyan 42 points.

For the IWU women, sophomore Ann Marie Lanzetta (37:47.56) finished runner-up and sophomore Angela Arvoy (39:11.58) was sixth as the Wildcats earned 11 points in the 10,000-Meter Run.

The 4 x 800-Meter Relay team destroyed the seven year old track record to capture the national championship in a time of 9:12.34. The team of junior Lindsay Waggoner, freshman Amanda Johnson, sophomore Angie Wolgemuth and sophomore Cassidy Wagner beat the old track record of 9:24.80 set by Indiana Wesleyan is 2002.

Indiana Wesleyan earned the sweep in the 4 x 800-Meter Relay as the men also earned 10 points in the event. Senior Bryan Hazel, junior Dan Carrick, freshman Eric Brown and senior Josh Foss crossed the finish line in 7:43.23, which also automatically qualifies the team for the NAIA National Championships.

Senior John Bowman destroyed the field in the Discus by nearly 40 feet. Bowman threw 179-5 feet / 54.68 meters to cruise to the national championship. Sophomore James Schortgen earned a mark of 134-8 feet / 41.04 meters to earn fifth place as Indiana Wesleyan gained 14 points in the event.

Saturday marks the final day of the NCCAA National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan.
