PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Mid-Continent (Ky.) University ended the Indiana Wesleyan University season on Friday afternoon at the NCCAA Softball National Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Following a split during the first day of the tournament, No. 6-seed Indiana Wesleyan dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 5-seed Mid-Continent in an elimination game.
The Wildcats built a 3-0 advantage after five innings of play, but a three run sixth inning knotted the score at 3-3 in the sixth inning. Mid-Continent completed the comeback with a game-winning sacrifice fly in the seventh to capture the 4-3 victory and advance in the tournament.
Catcher Molly Yothment led the offensive attack for Indiana Wesleyan with a 2-for-4 performance, including a two run double in the fifth inning. Rightfielder Allison Reichard was 2-for-3. IWU out-hit Mid-Continent 9-4 for the game.
Indiana Wesleyan closes the season with a 33-20 mark.
