MARION, Ind. -- Former Indiana Wesleyan University starting pitcher Brandon Moore threw a no-hitter on Sunday in a 5-0 Brooklyn Cyclones win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
Moore's seven inning no-hitter is the first in Cyclones' history as the right handed pitcher walked three and hit one batter. The game was played in Aberdeen, Maryland, at Cal Ripken's Stadium.
Only one Aberdeen base runner advanced to second base as Moore baffled Ironbird hitters all game. The New York Mets' prospect struck out six to earn his sixth victory of the season.
Moore was a 14th round selection by the Mets in the 2008 Draft. Brooklyn is a Single-A affiliate for the Mets in the New York-Penn League. The Cyclones are currently 40-22 this season and are 5.0 games up on Staten Island with 14 games left in the McNamara Division. Brooklyn and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are tied for the best record in the league.
For the season, Moore is 6-2 (5th in league in wins) with a 2.15 earned run average (4th). He has struck out 63 batters (5th) over 71 innings and has allowed just 47 hits. Moore's two complete games are tied for tops in the league while his 0.87 WHIP is third.
