FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University cross country teams traveled to Falcon Heights, Minnesota this weekend to compete in the 2009 Roy Griak Invitational.

The Wildcats competed in the Maroon II races with the women finishing ninth of 22 teams and the men earning 13th of 20.

IWU sophomore Beka Bentle ran a 24:09 to pace the women's team with a 37th place finish. The women ran a 6,000-meter race today compared to the normal 5,000-meter race.

Senior Laura Dziagwa (24:27) was 47th, senior Kailee Whitaker (24:37) was 53rd, sophomore Angela Arvoy (24:49) crossed the line in 62nd and freshman Emily Dain (24:53) placed 67th to round out the Indiana Wesleyan scoring.

University of Minnesota-Duluth earned the victory with 78 points. University of Manitoba (Can.) finished second with 83 points and Augustana (S.D.) University ended third at 86 points. Indiana Wesleyan totaled 266 points for ninth.

On the men's side, sophomore Ethan Naylor was the 32nd runner to finish the 8,000-meter course. He finished in a time of 27:11.

Freshman Andrew Albert (27:39) was 50th, sophomore Ethan Laudermilch (28:05) placed 72nd, senior Doug Alles (28:07) raced to 74th and freshman Mason Webb (28:51) finished 92nd for the Wildcats' scoring.

Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University won the men's race with 61 points. Concordia (Neb.) University was runner-up at 86 points and Augustana earned third with 97 points. IWU tallied 320 points in their 13th place finish.

Indiana Wesleyan will next compete at their home course as the Wildcats host the IWU Invitational during Homecoming on Saturday, October 3. The women race at 10 a.m. and the men at 11 a.m. at the Outdoor Sports Complex.
