MUNCIE, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis is tied with Marian (Ind.) University after the first day of the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament.

Host Indiana Wesleyan was forced to move the tournament indoors at the YMCA in Muncie due to rain. The tournament will continue at Muncie on Friday.

IWU and Marian each have eight points while Taylor (Ind.) University is third with seven points. Spring Arbor (Mich.) is fourth with four points while Goshen (Ind.) College, Grace (Ind.) College and Huntington (Ind.) University are all tied for fifth with three points. Bethel (Ind.) College did not score.

Indiana Wesleyan won eight of nine matches on Thursday, including all six singles matches.

In doubles, the No. 4-seed of Ben Bischoff and Micah May earned an 8-5 win in their eight team grouping in No. 1-doubles. No. 2-seed Ben Stoddard and Luke Montgomery won 8-2 in No. 3-doubles while No. 1-seed Matt Pedersen and Carson VandenBossche fell 8-4 in No. 2-doubles.

In singles competition, No. 2-seed Pedersen won 6-3, 6-2 in No. 1-singles, No. 5-seed Bischoff won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2-singles and May won 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3-singles. Top-seed VandenBossche earned a 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 win in No. 4-singles, No. 3-seed Montgomery won 6-2, 6-3 in No. 5-singles and No. 1-seed Brooks Ayers advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 6-singles.

Semifinals in all groupings will resume play at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 9 in Muncie, Indiana.
