
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis is represented in five of the nine championship matches scheduled for Saturday in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament.
After winning all six singles matches in the first round on Thursday, Indiana Wesleyan won four of six on Friday while advancing one of two doubles teams to the finals.
With two matches left to be played on Friday, Indiana Wesleyan holds a 13-12 lead on second place Taylor (Ind.) University. Marian is third with eight points.
Ben Bischoff and Micah May is the lone doubles team to advance to the finals, courtesy of an 8-5 win today. The No. 4-seed in No. 1-doubles defeated the top-seeded Taylor team where they will meet the No. 6-seed from Huntington (Ind.) University. In No. 3-doubles, No. 2-seed Ben Stoddard and Luke Montgomery lost 8-4.
No. 2-seed Matt Pedersen won in No. 1-singles 6-2, 6-2, No. 2-seed May earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory in No. 3-singles, top-seed Carson VandenBossche advanced with a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 4-singles and No. 1-seed Brooks Ayers was victorious 6-4, 6-4 in No. 6-singles.
Bischoff lost 1-6, 1-6 in No. 2-singles as Montgomery dropped his No. 5-singles match 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.
All nine championship matches will be played on Saturday, October 10. Play will return to the Sutter Tennis Center at Indiana Wesleyan if weather permits.
