GREENTOWN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis had a second strong showing in two days at the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament at the Howard County Tennis Center in Greentown, Indiana.
Following Thursday's first round of eight wins in nine matches, the Wildcats won seven of eight on Friday and will be featured in seven of the nine championship matches on Saturday.
Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor (Ind.) University are tied at the top of the standings with 15 points apiece. Both teams will have seven spots in the finals and Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor will face off in five of those matches.
The Wildcats won all five of their singles matches on Friday from the No. 2 to No. 6 spot. All five match wins were straight set victories.
No. 2-seed Andrea Meyering won 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2-singles, No. 1-seed Eva Delk advanced in No. 3-singles with a 6-1, 7-6 victory, No. 4-seed Lauren Wilson defeated the top-seed 6-1, 6-2 in No. 4-singles, No. 1-seed Courtney Kooyers was victorious 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5-singles and No. 1-seed Caitlin McGuire cruised to the finals in No. 6-singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Indiana Wesleyan competed in all three doubles semifinals and ended up with a pair of finalists.
The top-seed of Meyering and Wilson advanced in No. 2-doubles via an 8-2 victory and No. 1-seed of McGuire and Kooyers won 8-4 in No. 3-doubles for a spot in tomorrow's finals.
No. 4-seed Massey and Delk lost 8-3 in No. 1-doubles competition.
The championship matches will be played at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. Weather permitting the finals will be played at the Sutter Tennis Center at Indiana Wesleyan.
