MARION, Ind. -- Jordan Weidner, a senior guard from Danville High School, has signed his letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Indiana Wesleyan University beginning in the 2010-2011 season.

Weidner played last season for Franklin Central High School, helping lead the Flashes to the semi-finals of the 4A state tournament. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Hall of Fame Classic after helping Franklin Central capture victories over Lafayette Jeff and Tipton.

"Indiana Wesleyan University has gotten a very good player in Jordan Weidner, but even a better person," stated Danville High School head basketball coach Brian Barber. "Jordan is a quality young man with the characteristics that will represent IWU well.

Barber continued, "Jordan is a very solid and fundamental basketball player who can both shoot well from three and take it to the basket. Jordan is a hardnosed player who will defend and rebound and is a competitor as well as an outstanding teammate both on and off the floor. His leadership for us this off-season has been awesome! Coach Tonagel and Coach Clark have done an outstanding job with the IWU basketball program and I know Jordan is really looking forward to being a part of the Wildcat Family."

ScoutingIndiana.com calls Weidner a "Junkyard Dog type of player who does whatever is needed at 100 MPH and with maximum toughness. Weidner is a willing and physical defender and is a very good rebounder at the guard position."

After watching Weidner in an AAU event, Dave Telep, the National Recruiting Director for Scout.com, had this to say: "Put this kid on the mid-major radar: SG Jordan Weidner. The Spiece Indy Heat guard has moxy and he'll throw his body around like a post player. Solid quicks and a stroke to go with a tough guy's game." Weidner is ranked as a two star prospect by scout.com.

"We are very excited to add Jordan to our team," says head coach Greg Tonagel. "Jordan has a unique combination of skill, athleticism and toughness. It has been evident to us since the first time we saw Jordan that he was a player who was willing to do anything in order to win basketball games. With continued hard work, we think Jordan will have a great career at IWU!"

Weidner becomes the third member of the Wildcat's recruiting class, joining 6-8 Parker Stouffer of Southwood High School and 6-1 Jeff Hoskins of Kalamazoo Loy Norrix. The Wildcats are ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches Preseason Poll and open their season November 6 at Purdue-Calumet.
