CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's cross country finished third place in the competitive NCCAA National Championship on Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.
The Wildcats placed three runners in the top-12 en route to 89 points for the third place finish.
Sophomore Ethan Naylor paced Indiana Wesleyan with a sixth place finish. Naylor finished the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26 minutes nine seconds.
Freshman Andrew Albert also completed the race in the top-10 as he crossed the line ninth with a time of 26:31. Senior Joel Liechty shortly followed in 26:43 to place 12th overall.
Finishing fourth for Indiana Wesleyan was sophomore Ethan Laudermilch. He was 26th overall but 25th in the team competition with a time of 27:21. The final scorer for the Wildcats was Doug Alles. The senior was 36th overall and 33rd in the team competition with a finishing time of 27:47.
Naylor, Albert and Liechty were honored as NCCAA All-Americans for placing in the top-15 at the meet.
Malone (Ohio) University won the national championship with a team score of 36 points. Malone cruised to the title with four runners in the top eight places. Host Cedarville (Ohio) University was runner-up with 70 points.
Evan Thayer of Cedarville was the individual national champion. Thayer captured the race win in a time of 25:31.
NCCAA Scholar-Athletes were announced and three Wildcats were recognized. Alles, Liechty and senior Josh Schweigert were recipients of the academic accolades.
Indiana Wesleyan finished their season at the NCCAA National Championship. Naylor will race once more as an individual at the NAIA National Championship on Saturday, November 21 in Vancouver, Washington.
