MARION, Ind. -- Senior outside hitter Kelli Ziegler highlights four Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball student-athletes who were honored on the All-Mid-Central College Conference Team for 2009.

Ziegler was named All-Conference First Team for the second time in her two year career at Indiana Wesleyan after transferring in for her junior season.

Freshman setter Yui Iwase earned a pair of post-season honors. Iwase was named All-Conference Second Team and was also selected to the All-Freshman team.

Sophomore middle hitter Lauryn Barfell and sophomore opposite hitter Kate Denlinger were also recognized for their play and were awarded All-Conference Honorable Mention.

"I am very proud of Kelli, Yui, Kate and Lauryn on receiving Mid-Central Conference awards," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats."They improved greatly over the season and showed great strength and character as they went through the season.Even though they were singled out as award winners, they know the value of every team member and the contributions everyone made to improve our team and are a stronger force in the end."

Ziegler led the Wildcats this season with 462 kills (3.2 per set) with a .233 hitting percentage. She also figured in 60 blocks on the season and totaled 331 digs (2.3 per set). Iwase accumulated 1,190 assists (7.4 per set) during her freshman season. She also was a part of 55 blocks and collected 237 digs (1.5 per set).

Barfell led Indiana Wesleyan with 21 solo blocks and 103 block assists for 0.78 blocks per set. She also tallied 248 kills (1.6 per set). Denlinger finished second on the team with 288 kills (1.8 per set) and was second with a total of 71 kills with 10 solo and 61 block assists.
