MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University senior golfer Austin Conroy has been selected to play for Team USA in the 2010 World University Games which will be held in Malaga, Spain.

The 13th annual tournament will be held from June 7-11, 2010 at a golf result in the Mediterranean Sea area of Spain.

Conroy will be just one of three Team USA members from a NAIA program. Team USA will be coached by Jeff Griebel, head coach of NAIA program St. Ambrose (Iowa) University.

The championship tournament will be played over 72 holes in stroke play format. Competitors will play 18 holes a day for four consecutive days.

Conroy was an integral piece to the Wildcats success during the 2009 fall schedule. IWU won three of the six invitations they competed in and were near the top in each event. The Wildcats closed out the fall season with a third place finish at the competitive NAIA Fall Preview in Silvis, Illinois.

The Kansas City, Missouri native earned five top-10 finishes as an individual in the six tournaments. Conroy won medalist honors at the IWU Fall Invitational and at the NAIA Fall Preview. In each invitational he won Conroy shot under par for the victory.

Conroy is a two-time All-Mid-Central College Conference selection and won medalist honors at the MCC Championships in 2008.
