MARION, Ind. -- University of Kentucky transfer Jessica Craig has committed to play for the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team beginning in the fall of 2010.
Craig played at Noblesville High School where she was a much decorated student-athlete. She earned many high honors including two-time NSCAA All-American, ESPN All-American Second Team and was the Indy Star Player of the Year her senior campaign.
The defender played club soccer with the Carmel Fire, which is coached by Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer coach Mark Castro. While playing with the Fire, Craig was a key component as the team won four Indiana state titles and two state runner-ups.
Indiana Wesleyan head women's soccer coach Dr. John Bratcher is elated with Craig's decision to come to Indiana Wesleyan. "We started watching Jessica early in her sophomore year and continued until she committed to Kentucky. She can play several positions including sweeper, one of the few positions vacated by a departing senior in Rebecca Foulk. With our new players and a few still to sew up, we believe it is possible for the Wildcats to go deeper next year in the NAIA National Championships."
Craig will come to Indiana Wesleyan with sophomore status.
Indiana Wesleyan finished 2009 with an 18-3-1 record and a final NAIA ranking of No. 11. Indiana Wesleyan advanced to their second consecutive NAIA National Championship where the Wildcats lost 2-1 in the NAIA Round of 16 to No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University.
