MARION, Ind. -- Megan Marshall has become the fifth Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer player to be named to the NAIA All-American team.
The junior forward was selected as a member of the Second Team in a release late Sunday night.
"I am very proud of Megan and what she has accomplished this season," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "She deserves the recognition as she has worked really hard on becoming a wonderful forward after coming to Indiana Wesleyan as a midfielder."
Erin Marcum was the last Wildcat to earn NAIA All-American status when she was selected to the First Team in 2005. Marcum is the only First Team selection in program history.
Marshall was a key component in the Indiana Wesleyan offensive attack all season. She led the team with 38 points and tied for team honors with 14 goals and 10 assists. Marshall was also chosen as a Mid-Central College Conference First Team selection and was named the MCC Offensive Player of the Year.
Last year, Marshall was named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention as the Wildcats earned a spot in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
This season Indiana Wesleyan advanced to the NAIA National Championship Round of 16. IWU lost a hard-fought 2-1 decision to No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University where Marshall scored the first goal of the match for an early Indiana Wesleyan advantage.
The Wildcats finished the 2009 season with a No. 11-ranking and a record of 18-3-1.
