MARION, Ind. -- Sophomore midfielder Heidi Breckner, junior forward Megan Marshall and junior midfielder Brittany Smith of the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team were named National Soccer Coaches Association of America NAIA Mid-Central All-Region Team.

"I am very proud of the players that were recognized because they really deserve the recognition for all they have accomplished this season," said IWU head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "But every player on our roster knows it takes a team effort and we have more team goals to strive for."

Breckner was a key contributor on the defensive end of the field for the Wildcats. She help IWU rank third in the nation with 14 shutouts as the team allowed 10 goals in 22 matches.

The entire offense ran through the feet of Marshall. In her key position, she responded with team leading 10 assists and 36 points. Marshall was second on the team with 13 goals.

Smith added eight goals and seven assists this season for 23 points. She helped the offensive attack all season long as an attacking midfielder.

Indiana Wesleyan finished 18-3-1 on the season with a No. 11 ranking. IWU lost 2-1 to No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University in the NAIA Round of 16.
