MARION, Ind. -- Marion High School standout Alex Hornett will continue his men's tennis career at Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall of 2010.
Hornett is a three time selection to the All-North Central Conference First Team for three years and was also team captain for those three years. He helped lead the Giants to a 37-6 record over the past two seasons including two sectional championships, one regional runner-up and two second place finishes in the NCC.
"With Alex's leadership skills and tennis ability, he will be an immediate asset to our team," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Keith Ruberg.
Hornett earned a 45-5 record during his junior and senior seasons as the Marion's No. 2-singles player. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons as the team's No. 1-singles player.
In addition to his stellar play on the court, Hornett has been recognized for his work in the classroom. He has been named Academic All-State Honorable Mention and Academic All-NCC.
Indiana Wesleyan finished the fall season 10-1 en route to the Mid-Central College Conference regular season and tournament championships.
