
MARION, Ind. -- The NAIA announced Thursday evening that the Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball game with Spring Arbor (Mich.) University on Saturday will be the NAIA DII Game of the Week. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The critical Mid-Central College Conference showdown features a pair of teams ranked nationally in the NAIA Division II Top-25 Poll. Both teams are at their highest peak in the polls this season with Indiana Wesleyan ranked No. 5 and Spring Arbor at No. 19.
The Wildcats sit alone atop the MCC standings which four teams are bunched together within 1.5 games. IWU is 9-2 while the Cougars are currently 8-4 in conference play.
Both teams enter play on hot streaks. Indiana Wesleyan has won 16 of its last 17 games, including a program record 14-game win streak during that span. Spring Arbor has come out on top in 10 of its last 14 contests.
Indiana Wesleyan won the first meeting between the two programs on January 7 in Spring Arbor, Michigan by a score of 72-63. IWU senior center Zach Coverstone dominated play in the victory, earning a double-double with game-highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 9-of-12 from the field and got to the foul line 15 times. Spring Arbor senior forward Rob Boss also collected a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
Luckey Arena will also be hosting Costume Day at the game as all Indiana Wesleyan students are encouraged to wear costumes to the game. Students wearing costumes will be eligible for halftime games and prizes.
