MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University hosted its third indoor track and field meet on Saturday with the IWU Invitational at the Indoor Sports Complex.
Five Wildcats earned either automatic or provisional bids to the NAIA National Championships.
One such bid went to the men's 4x800-meter relay team. The team finished second in its competition with a time of seven minutes 57.64 seconds. IWU just missed an automatic bid by .64 seconds. The relay team consisted of Jason Wenzel, Matt Mitchell, Ethan Naylor and Andrew Albert.
The other male to earn a bid to the national championships was Naylor. He earned an automatic bid in the one mile run. Naylor finished second in a time of 4:20.04.
On the women's side, three individuals earned provisional bids into the NAIA nationals.
Laura Bowman raced to a third place finish in the 60-meter dash. She crossed the line in 7.93 seconds. Katelin Morgan won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.38 seconds while Angi Wolgemuth race to a victory in the 600-meter run. Wolgemuth finished in a time of 1:39.03.
Indiana Wesleyan will next compete in the NCCAA National Championships. The national meet will be held on Saturday, February 20 in Cedarville, Ohio.
