MARION, Ind. -- Senior center Zach Coverstone was selected to the All-Mid-Central College Conference First Team to lead a list of five Wildcats to earn accolades for the MCC men's basketball regular season champions.

Coverstone was also named MCC Defensive Player of the Year and was one of five student-athletes chosen for the MCC All-Defensive Team.

Senior guard Spencer Harris was selected to the All-MCC Second Team in addition to the MCC All-Defensive Team, giving Indiana Wesleyan representation with two of the five spots.

Senior guard Ryan Hetrick and junior forward Will Hubertz were recognized as MCC All-Conference Honorable Mention selections and freshman guard Aaron Martin comprised one of five players to be named to the MCC All-Newcomer Team.

Coverstone has been a presence in the Wildcat lineup for his first three seasons, but saved his best season for his senior year. He has been the top player for the No. 5-ranked team in the country by leading the team with 18.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 blocked shot per game. He led all players this season by earning MCC Player of the Week four of 11 times.

The Columbia City, Indiana native has shot 57.3-percent from the field and has greatly improved his free throw shooting this season to 67.3-percent.

Coverstone is fourth in NAIA Division II in Double-Doubles (15), Total Blocks (79) and Blocks per Game (2.6), is eighth in Total Rebounds (291) and 10th in Defensive Rebounds per Game (6.8). He ranks among the top players in the country in nine different categories, including Total Rebounds per Game, Field Goal Shooting and Points per Game.

Harris' selection for All-Conference is the first in his three year Indiana Wesleyan career.

He has been a staple in the Wildcat starting lineup and has logged the most minutes this season with nearly 32 minutes per game. Harris has averaged 9.1 points and 3.2 assists. His biggest contributions to the team have come on the defensive end of the court. He has been a shut down defender on the opponents' top guard, which led to his spot on the MCC All-Defensive Team.

Hetrick and Hubertz each make their debut on the MCC postseason honors list.

Hetrick has averaged 9.1 points per game as his sharp-shooting from beyond the arc has opened the floor for his teammates. He is shooting 42.5-percent from beyond the arc this season, including 47.1-percent in conference games.

Hubertz missed seven games in November and December due to an injury when Indiana Wesleyan lost two in a row following his absence. But when Hubertz returned at the turn of the calendar, he came back without missing a beat. Hubertz is the second leading scorer for IWU with 11.8 points per game. He has connected on 50.0-percent of his shots and 41.7-percent from 3-point range.

Martin extends the streak to five straight years of an Indiana Wesleyan student-athlete on the MCC All-Newcomer Team. He joins current Wildcats Harris and sophomore guard Derrick Troyer as selections to the team.

Martin has started 22 of the 30 games this season. He entered the starting lineup during the injury to Hubertz but took advantage of the opportunity and was never replaced in the lineup. Martin has averaged 8.5 points and 2.5 rebounds to date and is shooting 39.8-percent from beyond the arc and 47.7-percent overall. Indiana Wesleyan is 20-2 in games started by Martin.

Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 5 in the nation with a 25-5 record this year. IWU has won the third MCC regular season championship in four years and the first outright title in program history. Indiana Wesleyan will head into the MCC Tournament this week as the No. 1-seed.

The Wildcats open MCC Tournament play against No. 8-seed Huntington (Ind.) University. The First Round game will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 in Luckey Arena.
