MARION, Ind. -- The Mid-Central College Conference Women's Basketball Tournament begins on Tuesday night with the eight team single elimination tournament.
Indiana Wesleyan University is the No. 1-seed in the tournament after winning the MCC regular season championship with a 14-2 record. IWU holds home-court advantage throughout the tournament where Indiana Wesleyan is currently 13-0.
The Wildcats' MCC Tournament First Round opponent will be No. 8-seed Spring Arbor (Mich.) University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23 in Luckey Arena.
Spring Arbor is 4-23 this season and 2-14 in the MCC. SAU tied with Goshen (Ind.) College for the final tournament spot but earned the tie-breaker with Goshen behind their stunning 68-60 upset victory over then No. 5-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on February 6.
Earlier in the season, the Wildcats dominated the Cougars by a score of 70-25 in Luckey Arena as the teams split their two contests this season.
The Indiana Wesleyan versus Spring Arbor winner will advance to the MCC Tournament Semifinals and play the winner of No. 4-seed Taylor (Ind.) University and No. 5-seed Marian (Ind.) University. The semifinal contests will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 26.
The other portion of the bracket will pit No. 2-seed University of Saint Francis (Ind.) against No. 7-seed Grace (Ind.) College and No. 3-seed Huntington (Ind.) University battling No. 6-seed Bethel (Ind.) College.
The MCC Tournament Championship will be contested at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 1.
All games in the tournament will be hosted by the higher seed. The tournament champion will receive the MCC automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which will be held in Sioux City, Iowa on March 10-16.
Tickets for all games will be $7 for adults and $2 for students. The only pass that will be accepted for the MCC Tournament is the Official NAIA Pass. Indiana Wesleyan VIP All Sports Passes, Indiana Wesleyan Faculty/Staff Athletic Passes and Indiana Wesleyan student IDs cannot be accepted for free entry.
For the MCC Tournament First Round games on Tuesday and Wednesday (men's), the first 100 Indiana Wesleyan students with their student IDs will earn free admission into the game.
