MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis opened the spring season on Saturday with a 6-3 win over St. Mary's (Ind.) College.

The Wildcats extended their undefeated season to 12-0 on the year following an 11-0 start to the year during the fall season.

At No. 1-doubles, juniors Lisa Massey and Eva Delk fought hard to a close 8-6 win over Camille Gebert and Franca Peluso. At No. 2-doubles, freshmen Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson fell to Jillian Hurley and Mary Therese Lee in another close match by a score of 8-9 (3-7 in the tiebreaker). The Wildcats' final doubles win came from No. 3-doubles team of junior Caitlin McGuire and senior Courtney Kooyers with an 8-1 win over Jessica Kosinski and Cara Rectanus.

In the singles play, Indiana Wesleyan took four of six matches to seal up the 12th win of the season.

The singles wins came from No. 2-singles Meyering (7-5, 6-0), No. 3-singles Delk (6-0, 6-0), No. 5-singles Kooyers (6-1, 6-1) and No. 6-singles McGuire (6-1, 6-2).

St. Mary's earned two singles points with a win over Massey (3-6, 6-4 (3-10)) at No. 1-singles, and Wilson (6-7 (6-8), 3-6) at No. 4-singles.

The Wildcats will be back in action Thursday March 25th with a match at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. The next home match will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 31st against NCAA Division I opponent Valparaiso (Ind.) University.
