Part Time Cheer Team Coach

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to direct, support, and supervise a successful intercollegiate cheer team program supporting a comprehensive athletic department, along with supervising assistant coaches and student-athletes.
The head coach is responsible for the administration, recruiting, practice schedule, contest leadership, spiritual development, and mentoring/discipline aspects of the program. In addition, this role is the primary contact for cheer team related budget, strategic planning, facilities, policies, compliance, scholarships, promotion and leadership within the department. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
The role of the IWU Cheer Team is three-fold:
1. To foster and promote school spirit with the IWU Community. This would include a partnership with the
6th Man Club Cheer Block, involvement in Homecoming events, and general positive interaction and
promotion of unity and support with the student body.
2. Provide national ministry outreach through involvement in UCA National Competitions and camps.
3. Provide enthusiastic and interactive cheerleading at home basketball games and select away games for
the IWU men's and women's basketball teams as well as other sports on occasion. There may also be
opportunities for the Cheer Team to travel to NAIA National Basketball Tournaments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must demonstrate a mature and expressive Christian faith commitment.
* Needs to passionately support and articulate the University mission and vision for athletics within the
context of that mission.
* Must have some level of experience in coaching (Minimum of 2 years at the college level) that includes
recruiting student-athletes, marketing, scheduling, equipment budgeting/management, and facility care.
* Must be qualified to obtain a Professional Class B Commercial Driver's License. (CDL)
* Must have earned a Bachelor's Degree.
COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits.
Position is compensated with a set stipend amount.
