MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's track and field were runner-up at the annual Indiana Intercollegiate Little State Championship held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan.

University of Indianapolis cruised to the team title with 160 points. Indiana Wesleyan finished comfortably in second place with 81.33 points as Indiana Tech was a distant third at 61 points.

The Little State track meet is an annual meet with collegiate programs of Indiana that compete in NAIA, NCAA II, NCAA III and junior colleges.

Indiana Wesleyan was led by distance runner Ethan Naylor, who earned two of the three event wins for IWU.

Naylor won the 5,000-Meter Run in a time of 15 minutes 10.78 seconds. He also brought home 10 points in the 1,500-Meter Run with a first place time of 3:58.47.

Besides Naylor's win in the 1,500-Meter Run, two other Wildcats scored in the event. Andrew Albert was third in 4:01.90 while Ethan Laudermilch was eighth in a time of 4:03.94.

The third individual event win went to Seth Virgil in the Men's 200-Meter Dash. He crossed the finish line in a time of 21.47 seconds. In addition to the win, Virgil also placed fourth in the Men's 100-Meter Dash at 10.85 seconds.

Doug Alles also scored a point for Indiana Wesleyan in a distance event. Alles was eighth in the Men's 10,000-Meter Run in 32:14.12.

Andrew Albert was fifth in the Men's 3,000-Meter Steeplechase which was completed on Friday. Albert raced to a time of 9:51.87.

In the Men's 800-Meter Run, Jason Wenzel ran a time of 1:54.65 for third place and Eric Brown tacked on a sixth place finish in the Men's 400-Meter Dash with a time of 49.83 seconds.

A pair of relay teams finished in the top-eight spots this weekend.

The Men's 4 x 100-Meter Relay team of Thomas Collet, Josh Williams, Jordan Easley and Virgil finished fifth as they crossed the line in 42.47 seconds. Easley, Dan Carrick, Wenzel and Eric Brown made up the IWU Men's 4 x 400-Meter Relay team that placed sixth in 3:19.68.

Collet was the highest finisher for Indiana Wesleyan in the field events. He earned a mark of 23 feet 6.25 inches for second place in the Men's Long Jump. Joining him with points in the event was Virgil. He jumped 22-9.75 feet for sixth place.

In the Men's Hammer Throw, Justin Schortgen tossed a mark of 163-0 feet for fourth place and five points.

Also scoring for Indiana Wesleyan were Jeff Stuttler in the Men's 400-Meter Hurdles (55.76 seconds) and Nick Brown in the Men's High Jump (6-0.75 feet).
