BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team played against some very formidable opponents this past Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky in a round robin format.

The Wildcats first opponent was Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College, who finished ranked No. 1 in the final NAIA poll this past fall and has won several NAIA National Championships. The result was an impressive 2-0 victory over the squad from Columbia, Kentucky.

NCAA Division 1 opponent Western Kentucky University came from behind to tie Indiana Wesleyan 2-2 in the last eight minutes in the second match of the day for both teams.

A 0-0 tie with NCAA Division 1 foe University of Tennessee at Martin closed out the competition for the Wildcats.

"Several coaches commented that we played the best soccer of all the squads there and had tremendous chemistry. I was very proud and pleased with the team's passion and chemistry during the daylong event. (Assistant) Coach Ruder and I agreed that this was a great outing against southern teams that had been training outside for many weeks. Hopefully we can continue rolling as we play a NCAA Division II opponent this Friday evening, April 16."

The University of Indianapolis (Ind.) and Indiana Wesleyan match opens the Indianapolis Soccer Showcase at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an annual event that includes teams from all divisions that help raise funds for the Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation efforts for the inner city soccer program.
