MARION, Ind. -- Two Indiana Wesleyan University student-athletes were named NCCAA Student-Athletes of the Week for their play during the week ending April 17.
Junior starting pitcher Katie Hall earned the softball honor while senior Joe Madda brought home the recognition for golf.
Hall was stellar during the week as she was 3-0 in three starts and one relief appearance. Two of her starts were shutouts, 7-0 over Trinity International (Ill.) University and 1-0 in a win against Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
In 21 innings pitched during the week, Hall accumulated a 1.00 ERA with just 13 hits and four walks while earning 22 strikeouts.
Madda led the Wildcat golf team to one of the biggest wins in program history. The Wildcats won the NAIA Classic @ The Brickyard which featured eight teams ranked in the NAIA Top-25. IWU defeated three top-10 programs which vaulted the Wildcats up to No. 12 in the NAIA poll released later in the week.
Madda finished third of 75 golfers with a two-round score of one-over par, 145. He shot rounds of 73 and 72 at The Brickyard Golf Course which four holes are inside the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
