MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball is returning to the NCCAA World Series this week after earning an at-large selection.
The 10-team, double elimination national tournament will be held at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio from May 19-22. The tournament is being sponsored by the Arington Foundation and some games will also be played at Legacy Field, the site of a doubleheader sweep for Indiana Wesleyan over Concordia (Mich.) University earlier this season.
Indiana Wesleyan was named the No. 9-seed and is 27-37 on the season but is playing its best ball of the year. Indiana Wesleyan advanced to its first Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship recently and has won 13 of the last 19 games.
IWU will open play against No. 8-seed King (Tenn.) College at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19. King earned an automatic bid to the NCCAA World Series by winning the Mideast Regional championship. The Tornado enters tournament play with a 28-14 record.
The winner of Indiana Wesleyan vs. King will advance to play No. 1-seed and defending national champion Bluefield (Va.) College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The losing team will play at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 20 against the losing team between No. 4-seed Judson (Ill.) University and No. 5-seed Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
