MARION, Ind. -- Brianne Gutknecht, a 5-8 transfer outside hitter and defensive specialist, has committed to be a part of the Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team for the 2010 season.
Gutknecht graduated from College View Academy in Lincoln, Nebraska, lettering two years in volleyball (one at Lincoln Southeast High School), including her senior year when she was second team all-conference. She also lettered in basketball, tennis and golf. She was first team all-conference her senior year in basketball and went to the state tennis tournament her junior year.
Following high school, Gutknecht signed a letter of intent to play for Dana (Neb.) College. In her freshmen year, she played in mostly JV games for the Vikings but swung to the varsity team as a back row player.
As a sophomore, Gutknecht once again played mostly JV and swung to the varsity team playing in numerous games where she hit and played back row. After her sophomore season ended Gutknecht tried out for Dana's first ever women's lacrosse team, where she was voted captain and was a first-team all-conference midfielder.
