MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball signed a pair of players to bolster their roster for the upcoming 2010-11 season.
The Wildcats have signed Nolan Kurfman from Quincy, Illinois in addition to Sam Garver from Falconer, New York.
Kurfman will pitch and play outfield for Indiana Wesleyan. He was named to the Western Big 6 All-Conference First Team during his senior season at Quincy High School and was all named All-Area First Team.
Garver will also pitch for the Wildcats and play in the infield. He finished his senior season at Falconer High School with a .515 batting average and did not strike out one time during the season.
"Both Sam and Nolan are going to provide athleticism and versatility to our team," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Chad Newhard. "They can both play multiple positions which can be very valuable to our team.Both are also outstanding young men and we are looking forward to having them on campus this fall."
Kurfman and Garver will get their first taste of competition at Indiana Wesleyan on September 18. IWU will participate in fall scrimmages on that Saturday with a game at 12 p.m. against a team to be determined. Indiana Wesleyan will then play Taylor (Ind.) University on Friday, September 24 at 4 p.m.
