SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University scored two goals in each half as Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer split their pair of season-opening matches in California.
The 4-0 loss by the Wildcats evens their season record to 1-1-0. IWU defeated San Diego Christian (Calif.) College 3-0 on Tuesday evening in their first match of 2010.
Point Loma Nazarene scored goals in the 10th and 35th minutes to open a 2-0 lead at intermission. PLNU tacked on two more in the 47th and 65th minutes for the 4-0 victory in their first competition of the year.
On the night, Point Loma Nazarene outshot Indiana Wesleyan 13-5 with a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. IWU junior goalkeeper Nick Platt made two saves on the evening, recording both in the opening 45 minutes.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the pitch at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 1 as the Wildcats travel to play Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College in Hannibal, Missouri.
