MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University played their first home match of 2010-11 on Friday afternoon and captured a 7-2 victory over Grace (Ind.) College.
The victory moves the Wildcats to 2-0 this season with both wins coming in Mid-Central College Conference contests.
Indiana Wesleyan won every point but one in each singles and doubles play.
Sophomores Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson won 8-4 in No. 1-doubles while senior Lisa Massey and Eva Delk earned an 8-2 victory in No. 2-doubles. In No. 3-doubles, senior Caitlin McGuire and junior Aubrey Lohser lost 8-4 as IWU led 2-1 heading into singles completion.
Indiana Wesleyan won spots two through six in singles play. Meyering (No. 2-singles) won 6-0, 6-2, Delk (No. 3-singles) earned a 6-1, 6-1 match win, Wilson (No. 4-singles) cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory, freshman Kristen Futrell (No. 5-singles) captured a 6-3, 6-2 win and freshman Rachel Heiniger (No. 6-singles) pulled out a 6-4, 6-0 win.
Massey dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision in No. 1-singles play.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7 in a home match against Huntington (Ind.) University.
