KENDALLVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf team finished third of 12 teams at the Saint Francis Cougar Invitational on Tuesday in Kendallville, Indiana.
The Wildcats shot a team total of 301 on Tuesday at Cobblestone Golf Course a day after shooting a 298 at Noble Hawk Golf Course. IWU finished the 36-hole invitational at 599.
Indiana Wesleyan entered Tuesday's play tied for second with Holy Cross (Ind.) College. The Saints shot a 299 on Tuesday to edge the Wildcats by two strokes for second place. Ashford (Iowa) University won the invitational with a 591 (296-295).
Senior Matt Milholland paced the Wildcats as he tied for fifth place with a 36-hole score of four over par, 147 (74-73). Sophomores Zach Kinch (73-76) and Tyler Keith (74-75) tied for 13th place with scores of 149. Freshman Cameron Rutherfrod shot a 155 (78-77) for a 28th place finish while junior Aaron Cecil placed 41st with a 160 (77-83).
Trey Stoll of Grace (Ind.) College won medalist honors with an even par, 143 (73-70).
The Wildcats next time out will be on September 12-13 as Indiana Wesleyan hosts the IWU Fall Invitational at Meshingomesia Country Club.
