COLUMBIA, Ky. (Box Score) -- Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College upended Indiana Wesleyan University 1-0 in a top-10 women's soccer confrontation Wednesday night in Columbia, Kentucky.
No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson (2-0-1) scored the lone goal of the match in the 54th minute when Elizabet Madjarac found the back of the net to break the scoreless draw.
No. 8-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (1-2-0) lost its second straight match by one goal to a top-25 program. IWU fell 2-1 on Saturday to No. 18-ranked Houghton (N.Y.) College in double overtime. Lindsey Wilson avenges last year's 3-1 win by Indiana Wesleyan in Marion.
"We really played well, played very hard," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "We had a momentary lapse and it cost us. We missed some early opportunities in the first half that could have made things different."
The Wildcats were pressed by the Blue Raiders all match long, but not before IWU had some early scoring chances in the first half. But the Wildcats came up empty and then had to face a barrage of Blue Raider shots, 24 in all.
"Girls played hard," continued Bratcher. "(Goalkeeper) Jamie (Speidel) played well tonight and we had to play defense all over the field."
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Wildcat Field for their next match on Saturday. IWU hosts Cedarville (Ohio) University at 7 p.m.
