MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- It was a very smooth start to Mid-Central College Conference action for the Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team on Wednesday at Bethel (Ind.) College.
The Wildcats met little resistance from the Pilots en route to the 9-0 victory in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Doubles competition featured the No. 2-team of sophomores Rachel Heiniger and Kristen Futrell cruise to an 8-0 win. Juniors Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson took the point in No. 1-doubles 8-5 while senior Aubrey Lohser and freshman Kim Mella earned an 8-6 win in No. 3-doubles.
It was even easier for Indiana Wesleyan in singles as all six matches were straight set IWU victories.
Heiniger won 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1-singles, Meyering took a 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 2-singles and Wilson easily won No. 3-singles 6-0, 6-0. Futrell earned a 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 4-singles, freshman Diane Jones was victorious 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5-singles and Mella completed the sweep 6-0, 6-2 in No. 6-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 2-0 this fall and 1-0 in MCC action. IWU returns to the courts at 3 p.m. on Friday with a home match versus University of Northwestern Ohio at the Sutter Tennis Center.
