MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team defeated No. 22-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University on Saturday in the IWU/Taylor Tournament in Luckey Arena.
The Wildcats dropped the opening two games to Georgetown 20-25, 25-27 but rallied to win the final three games 25-21, 25-23, 15-7 for the five game victory.
Peyton Thompson collected 15 kills while Kate Denlinger and Kristine Egebrecht each added 10. Yui Iwase passed out 24 assists. Kelsey Masuda earned 20 digs while Egebrecht and Thompson each blocked six attempts.
IWU won a second five game match in the final contest of the tournament against Olivet Nazarene. The Wildcats took the win by scores of 21-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-22, 15-12.
Denlinger led the team with 16 kills while Thompson was just behind with 15. Egebrecht added 12 kills and four block assists. Iwase served up 52 kills and Masuda added 34 digs.
No. 21-ranked Indiana Wesleyan completes the week with a 3-1 record to improve to 6-2 for the season. IWU will next play at Grace (Ind.) College on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
