MARION, Ind. (Results) -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf hosted its annual IWU Fall Invitational and finished third Tuesday at Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion.
The Wildcats were amidst a group of three programs bunched by five strokes. Holy Cross (Ind.) College finished as the top team in that close group to place second with a 605 (301-304) while Indiana Wesleyan was next with a 609 (306-303) for third place overall. Huntington (Ind.) University ended fourth at the invitational, one stroke behind Indiana Wesleyan at 610 (307-303).
Bethel (Ind.) College won the two round invitational with a 594 (295-299). Bethel finished 18-over par over 36-holes.
Freshman Cameron Rutherford (75-77) and sophomore Tyler Keith (78-74) were the low score for the Wildcats with a two round score of 152 to tie for ninth overall. Junior Aaron Cecil was one stroke back at 153 (79-74) for a 13th place finish while Matt Milholland tied for 18th with a 154 (74-80). Sophomore Zach Kinch rounded out the Wildcat rotation with a 158 (80-78) for 29th position.
Brady Klotz of Bethel and Trey Stoll of Grace (Ind.) College tied for low score with even par, 144. Klotz won the playoff to win medalist honors.
Indiana Wesleyan will next compete on October 3-4 at the NAIA National Preview Invitational at Creekside Golf Course in Salem, Oregon.
