SALEM, Ore. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf struggled to a 19th place finish at the NAIA Fall Preview on Tuesday at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Oregon.
The invitational was a showcase of Creekside Golf Club which will host the NAIA National Championship in May, 2012. A total of 20 top teams, with 100 golfers, were invited to participate in the big fall preview invitational.
Indiana Wesleyan finished Monday in 17th place after shooting a team score of 321. IWU followed with a 341 on Tuesday to dip down to 19th place with a final score of 662.
Matt Milholland was the low score for the Wildcats with a 15-over par, 159 (76-83) on the par-72, 6,887 yard course. His score was good for a 59th place finish.
Tyler Keith shot a 165 (82-83) for Indiana Wesleyan to place 80th and Cameron Rutherford finished the two rounds at 170 (83-87) and was 86th place. Zach Kinch was 93rd as he ended the invitational at 172 (80-92) and Aaron Cecil completed play 96th after shooting a 176 (88-88).
Texas Wesleyan College held on to win the NAIA Fall Preview with a 588 (290-298). Johnson & Whales (Fla.) University earned runner-up with a score of 595 (298-297) and held off University of British Columbia who finished third with a 597 (292-305).
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the links next week at the NAIA Midwest Invitational on October 13-14 at TPC Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Illinois.
