SILVIS, Ill. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf team shot a 319 in the second round of the NAIA Midwestern Invitational to finish seventh overall in the 13 team field.
The two-round invitational was held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The course held the previous two NAIA National Championships.
Indiana Wesleyan finished the tournament with nearly identical scores in the two rounds. IWU was tied for sixth after play on Thursday after shooting a 320. Indiana Wesleyan shot one stroke better with a 319 on Friday to finish the invitational at 639.
William Woods (Mo.) University shot a two-round score of 613 (300-313) to edge Marian (Ind.) University by two strokes for a 615 (301-314). University of Saint Francis (Ill.) was third at 623 (306-317), Ashford (Iowa) University was fourth at 625 (319-306), Saint Ambrose (Iowa) earned fifth at 630 (310-320) and Viterbo (Wis.) University placed sixth with a 632 (320-312).
Matt Milholland tied for 16th place with a two round score of 156 (77-79) to lead the Wildcats.
Aaron Cecil, Zach Kinch and Cameron Rutherford all shot 80 to complete the scoring for Indiana Wesleyan on Friday. Cecil finished the invitational tied for 30th at 161 (81-80), Kinch tied for 33rd with a 162 (82-80) and Rutherford was tied for 41st with a 166 (86-80).
Tyler Keith placed 40th in Illinois with a 165 (80-85) and Dalton Miller, playing as an individual, earned a tie for 28th position with a 160 (84-76).
Josh Udelhofen of Clarke (Iowa) College won medalist honors. He shot a three over-par, 145 (75-70) on the par-71, 6,426 yard course.
Indiana Wesleyan has one more invitational left on the fall schedule. IWU will compete in the NCCAA National Championship on October 24-26 at The Hombre Golf Course in Panama City, Florida.
