HUNTINGTON, Ind. --No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball met little resistance Wednesday night at Huntington (Ind.) University en route to a 3-0 win.
The Wildcats won for the 16th time in their last 17 matches by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.
Indiana Wesleyan has used the long streak of wins to improve their record to 22-4 on the season and 11-2 in Mid-Central College Conference play. Huntington drops to 6-19 overall and 1-13 in conference action.
The Wildcats featured strong play throughout the lineup. Senior middle blockers Peyton Thompson and Lauryn Barfell led the team in attacks. Thompson led all players with 12 kills and Barfell contributed nine. Each had two block assists.
Senior outside hitter Kate Denlinger and sophomore middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht each added seven kills at Huntington. Egebrecht added four block assists and Denlinger had two.
Junior setter Yui Iwase assisted on 34 kills and senior libero Kelsey Masuda led all players with 19 digs. Masuda and sophomore defensive specialist Rebecca Brandes each served two aces.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to MCC action at 7 p.m. on Friday night with a showdown at University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
