PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- The fall season came to a close Tuesday for the Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf team with a 14th place finish at the NCCAA National Championship in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Indiana Wesleyan missed the cut to advance to the third and final round on Wednesday. IWU shot 325 on Tuesday to close the national championship with a two round total of 633 (308-325).
Following a strong showing on Monday, four of the five Wildcats finished Tuesday with higher scores. Dalton Miller was the only Wildcat to shoot lower during the second round when he shaved nine strokes for a 79 on Tuesday. He finished tied for 67th place with a two round score of 167 (88-79).
Matt Milholland was the best overall score for Indiana Wesleyan with a 157 (73-84) as he tied for 41st place. Zach Kinch was two strokes behind Milholland with a 159 (77-82) to tie for 47th position. Rounding out the team were Cameron Rutherford (78-83) and Aaron Cecil (80-81) who tied for 55th place with scores of 161.
California Baptist University holds a five stroke lead in the overall team score with 596 (294-302). Dallas Baptist (Texas) University is currently second at 601 (297-304) and Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University is third at 603 (307-296).
The NCCAA National Championship completes the fall season for Indiana Wesleyan. IWU will return to completion in the spring.
