MARION, Ind. -- Two near double-doubles were more than enough for the Mid-Central College Conference to announce that Indiana Wesleyan University senior center Krystal Stoneking was selected as the MCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The honor is the second for Stoneking this season.
Stoneking finished one rebound shy of a double-double in each contest last week. The Newark, Ohio native finished with averages of 23.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocked shots as Indiana Wesleyan won their ninth straight overall.
Indiana Wesleyan defeated No. 25-ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.) 73-62 on Wednesday and then won 55-50 versus Marian (Ind.) University, a team receiving votes in the poll. The pair of wins ups the Wildcats' record to 21-1 overall and 10-0 in the MCC.
Stoneking tallied 20 points and nine rebounds against Saint Francis while shooting 9-of-13 from the field. She followed that performance with an even better effort against Marian. She accounted for nearly half the IWU scoring with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting along with nine boards and a career-high four blocks.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the court at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25 with a game at No. 18-ranked Grace (Ind.) College in Winona Lake, Indiana.
