MARION, Ind. --Brittney Brooks has made her decision to join the inaugural Indiana Wesleyan University women's golf team in the fall of 2012.
Brooks becomes the first student-athlete to ever sign to play for the brand new Wildcat team. Indiana Wesleyan announced the beginning of the women's golf program in the spring of 2011 and hired head coach Julie Wagner earlier this month.
"I'm calling her my diamond in the rough," said Wagner. "Brittney's performance in high school golf far exceeds anyone else I've looked at. I know she will be a tremendous asset to the team."
Brooks is currently a senior at New Castle High School and plays at Westwood Golf Club. She has several scores in the 70's with a low of 73. Brooks was the No. 1 golfer at New Castle for all four years. The senior advanced to regionals this season and also participates in the Mountain Dew Jr. Tour and finished fourth in the state championship.
Brooks plans to major is Accounting/Finance at Indiana Wesleyan with plans to be a CPA.
