MARION, Ind. --The Indiana Wesleyan University men's golf team has announced that Blake Russell will attend and play golf for the university in the fall of 2012.

Russell is currently a high school senior at Twin Lakes High School in Monticello, Indiana. He is the first recruit for the men's golf team for the 2012-13 season.

Russell has showcased his playing ability in high school as well as in the Indiana Golf Association (IGA) events during the summer.

"I have followed Blake's high school and IGA success over the last year and watched him qualify for the Indiana State Amateur, play well in other IGA events throughout the summer, and win several high school tournaments as a junior in high school," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Steve Evans. "He does all the things he needs to do to have success at the next level. He works hard with his swing instructor in season and out of season and works out faithfully with his TPI fitness instructor."

Besides being a great fit for the Wildcats on the links, Russell also fits the mold as a mission fit for Indiana Wesleyan.

"Blake is involved in his church, has a tremendous family support system around him, is a scholar- athlete and is a good mission fit as well for our Wildcat golf program," added Evans. "He is a senior, wanting to major in Chemistry or Biology and will play his senior year this spring for Twin Lakes High School."
