UPLAND, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University outdoor track and field competed tonight in the Taylor (Ind.) University Invitational in Upland, Indiana.
Highlighting the evening were four qualifications for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships which will be held at Indiana Wesleyan in late May. Three of the qualifiers hit the ‘A' standard while the fourth was a ‘B' standard.
All three of the ‘A' standards for Indiana Wesleyan came in the Hammer Throw.
Senior Victoria Lee easily surpassed the ‘A' standard in the Women's Hammer Throw with a mark of 55.47-meters/182-0 feet. The ‘A' standard is set at 50.21-meters.
A pair of Wildcats earned the ‘A' standard in the Men's Hammer Throw. Senior James Schortgen tossed a throw of 58.46-meters/191-9 feet while sophomore Geoff Getts also qualified with a mark of 54.47-meters/178-8 feet. The ‘A' standard mark is 53.00-meters.
The fourth qualifier was sophomore Darrian Mikell in the Men's Long Jump. Mikell leaped 7.10-meters/23-3.5 feet for the ‘B' standard which is at 7.08-meters.
Indiana Wesleyan will have the Easter weekend off before returning to action on April 13-14. That weekend Indiana Wesleyan will host the Little State Championship.
