MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team has signed three more for the 2012-13 season as the recruiting class now stands at four.
Indiana Wesleyan head coach Keith Ruberg will bring Daniel Smith, Ryan Smith, and Tyler York to Marion for the fall of 2012.
Daniel Smith is currently a senior at Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Indiana. He was a Sectional champion and finished 17-7 at No. 1-singles. Smith was named All-State Honorable Mention, All-District, and All-Conference. He was also named team MVP and was chosen for the Senior All-Star team.
"Daniel is an outstanding addition to our program," said Ruberg. "I expect him to develop into an important part of our future success."
Ryan Smith comes to the Wildcats from Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a Sectional champion this year and holds a career record of 48-13, including a 24-2 mark this season in No. 1-doubles. Smith was named All-State Second Team, All-District, All-Conference, and was named his team's MVP. He was also named to the Senior All-State team.
"Ryan brings experience and talent to our program," said Ruberg. "I see Ryan developing to a key part of our team."
Tyler York is from Northeastern High School in Fountain City, Indiana. York has won back-to-back Sectional championships and compiled a 19-2 record at No. 2-doubles during his senior season.
"Tyler was a key part of the success of his high school team," added Ruberg. "He brings in outstanding leadership skills as well as playing ability."
Indiana Wesleyan finished the 2011-12 season with a 12-11 record and finished the year in the NCCAA National Championship semifinals.
