MARION, Ind. -- Sara Lyons is the sixth person to commit to Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team and continue her career in the fall of 2012.
Lyons is from Marion, Indiana and played No. 1-doubles for Marion High School. After playing on the reserve team her freshman year, she played No. 2-doubles her sophomore year and No. 1-doubles her junior and senior years. Lyons was All-Conference First Team all three years and Second Team All-State her senior year.
"I am very happy that Sarah chose Indiana Wesleyan University to pursue her college degree and to play intercollegiate tennis," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Terry Porter. "She is an aggressive doubles player and has improved her game greatly each year. Her style of playing doubles fits the collegiate mold. I expect great things from her over the next four years."
Lyons was involved in many other activities at Marion High School. She played basketball her freshman and sophomore year, was boys tennis manager, and a member of the M-club and Mu Alpha Theta. She also played AAU basketball and team tennis in the summer. Her hobbies are shopping, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family. Lyons will be a Pre-Med major at Indiana Wesleyan.
