MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team picked up where it has left off the past 17 years, with a victory.

Indiana Wesleyan won the 2012 fall season opener on Saturday with a 9-0 shutout victory at home against IU-Southeast. The victory is the 210th consecutive during the fall season which dates back to 1995.

The Wildcats victory over the Grenadiers was in dominant fashion. It started with three quick victories in doubles competition. Freshman Katie Wilson and sophomore Kim Mella won 8-0 in No. 1-doubles, juniors Rachael Heiniger and Kristen Futrell earned an 8-1 win in No. 2-doubles, and junior Kim Reisdorf and sophomore Diane Jones took No. 3-doubles 8-1.

Singles play mirrored doubles with easy Wildcat wins. Heiniger won No. 1-singles (6-0, 6-0), Wilson earned the No. 2 point (6-0, 6-0), Futrell won the No. 3 match (6-1, 6-1), junior Sarah Richert claimed the No. 4-singles win (6-1, 6-2), freshman Gabby D'Aniello was victorious in No. 5 play (6-1, 6-3), and sophomore Bridget Christner swept No. 6-singles (6-0, 6-0).

Indiana Wesleyan returns to the courts on Tuesday, August 28 with the Crossroads League opener at Goshen (Ind.) College. The match begins at 4 p.m.
