MARION, Ind. -- Rebecca Brandes and Kristine Egebrecht were recognized for their play during the week of September 24-30 by the Crossroads League as the pair received three of the four volleyball weekly honors.
Egebrecht was named the league's Player of the Week and Hitter of the Week. It is the third consecutive period she has earned both honors and the fourth time overall this season. Brandes was given the Libero of the Week award for the third time in as many weeks.
Egebrecht had a career week, amassing the two highest kill totals in her career. The junior middle hitter set a new career-high with 23 kills versus Aquinas (Mich.) College on Friday and then finished with 22 kills on Saturday against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University. She totaled 83 total kills for an average of 3.95 kills per game and tallied a .333 attack percentage.
The West Chicago, Illinois native was also a force defensively at the net, totaling eight solo blocks and 11 block assists. Egebrecht had three solo blocks and five bock assists at No. 18-ranked IU-East and then three solo blocks and two block assists in the NAIA Match of the Week vs. No. 22-ranked Cornerstone (Mich.) University.
Brandes continues to anchor the back row for the Wildcats. The junior libero tallied at least 20 digs in all five matches. She finished with 127 on the week for an average of 6.05 digs per game. Brandes was also strong on service receiving, committing just two errors in 158 total chances (.987).
Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 10 in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll and is 20-1 on the season. The team plays again at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3 versus Goshen (Ind.) College in Luckey Arena.
