MARION, Ind. -- The Crossroads League has announced that Indiana Wesleyan University senior goalkeeper Jamie Speidel has been named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Speidel earns the honor for the first time this season after making 14 saves in two matches during the period of October 1-7.

The Columbus, Indiana native tallied six saves in a 0-0 double overtime contest at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University on Wednesday. On Saturday, Speidel allowed three goals in a 3-2 loss at Grace (Ind.) College but was able to keep the Wildcats close in making eight saves, including some breakaway opportunities.

No. 25-ranked Indiana Wesleyan is 9-2-1 this season and 2-1-1 in Crossroads League matches. IWU returns to the pitch at 7 p.m. tomorrow night with a home contest against Taylor (Ind.) University at Wildcat Field.
